Ramky Group to establish two incubators in Vizag Pharma City

The company to invest Rs. 170 crore on the facility

HYDERABAD: Ramky Group will establish two pharma incubators for research and development and manufacturing of bulk drugs in the Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City at Visakhapatnam to facilitate small entrepreneurs. Addressing a press conference here, chairman of the company A. Ayodhya Rami Reddy said that the company would invest Rs. 170 crore on the facility. The first phase would facilitate 25 small companies with an investment of Rs. 50 crore.

The company had completed the development of the sector-specific industrial theme park to an extent of 90 per cent in association with Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) for creating basic necessities for manufacturing industries. The expected investment in the Pharma City was Rs. 5,000 crore. It was spread over 2,500 acres of which 600 acres was identified as a special economic zone (SEZ).

Pharmaceutical majors like Aurobindo, Matrix, Orchid, SNF (France), Eisui (Japan), Pharmazell (Germany), Shasun, Biocon, Srini Pharma and MNR Biotech had already confirmed their participation in the Pharma City.

Land acquisition

Mr. Reddy said that considering the growing demand, the company was proposing acquisition of 250 acres more to accommodate more companies in the SEZ area.

The incubators would have common facilities, including testing laboratories, effluent treatment plant, etc. B.P. Acharya, Chairman and Managing Director of the APIIC, said that the public-private partnership initiatives were yielding results.
