Tripura samples test negative for bird flu

NEW DELHI: The samples of poultry from a village in Tripura where “unusual mortality” had occurred, have tested negative for avian influenza (H5 and H7 strains).
According to the Union Department for Animal Husbandry here, the report by the High Security Disease Laboratory (HSADL) in Bhopal on the blood and tissue samples from dead poultry from Khowai village under West Tripura District were negative.
Other samples
The other samples from Vawmbuk village in Saiha District of Mizoram were being tested at the laboratory in Bhopal.
Other causes
In both the cases local veterinary doctors had indicated that deaths had occurred due to causes other than bird flu.
