To prepare action plan in consultation with Army Army has set up mobile schools
NEW DELHI: The Union Women and Child Development Ministry will prepare an action plan in consultation with the Army for the welfare of the children of nomads affected by the Kargil war and other insurgency-related incidents. Interacting with a group of nomadic children and their guardians from Kargil who called on Minister of State for Women and Child Development (Independent charge) Renuka Chowdhury here on Wednesday, she assured support from her Ministry for provision of basic services to the affected children in the State. The group comprises children of nomads whose families stay in the Drass region for five months every year during the summer season and for the rest of the year they stay on the lower hills and plains because of which their education suffers as no schools are available in the 40 sq. km area. The Army has set up static as well as mobile schools for these children and imparts education to them during their stay. The schools provide education from classes I to VIII and give education according to the NCERT guidelines.
