Rumours of Emergency in Pakistan

Islamabad: Rumours of an impending declaration of Emergency gripped Pakistan late on Wednesday night. Geo Television reported that President Pervez Musharraf held a high-level meeting to discuss the current political situation in the country and that this option came for serious consideration. Deputy Minister for Information’ Tariq Azeem asserted the report was “speculation,” but also said Emergency was an option.
