Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI: India on Wednesday asked Pakistan to verify recent reports in a section of the media that global terrorist Dawood Ibrahim, prime accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case, has been detained by the authorities in Karachi.
The CBI, which represents Interpol in India, wrote a letter to Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), seeking its comments on reports about the detention of Dawood Ibrahim by authorities in Karachi after a gun battle, official sources said.
The FIA represents Interpol in Pakistan. Dawood is also wanted in India for a number of crimes, including extortion, murder and circulation of fake currency.
