Rajiv award for Ramgoolam, Kapil Dev, Shilpa Shetty

Mumbai: Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam, cricket legend Kapil Dev, film stars Salman Khan, Shilpa Shetty and industrialist Swati Piramal are among those chosen for this year’s Rajiv Gandhi awards.

The awards instituted in 1995 are given for outstanding achievement and contribution to diverse fields including, education, industry, journalism and entertainment, according to award committee convener Charan Singh Sapra. Others selected include Indian Express Editor-in-Chief Shekhar Gupta, Suzlon CMD Tulsi Tanti and Hindustan Sugar Ltd, Jt. Managing Director, Khusagar Bajaj.

The awards will be given on August 12. — PTI
