Delay not on our part, says Arjun Singh
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI: After the Supreme Court refused to vacate the stay on reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in central educational institutions, Human Resource Development Ministry on Wednesday said it was hopeful of an expeditious settlement of the issue, as the court has decided to hear the matter on a daily basis.
HRD Minister Arjun Singh told journalists that the Ministry tried its best to roll out implementation from this academic year itself.
“The delay is not on our part; at every stage we were eager to get the matter resolved,” the Minister said when asked about the Central Government’s inability to introduce OBC quota in the ongoing academic year.
“I don’t think it will take very long; I’m sure there will be a judgment soon,” he said.
