Helping people, Munnabhai style

An interesting new twist to interactive shows on radio

On a mission: Hosts of the ‘Breakfast show’ RJs Simran and Varun

THIS FOR ``TALK OF THE TOWN” WITH PICTURE.

They may use different methods to keep their listeners in splits, but they do share a common passion for radio. Busy anchoring the ‘Breakfast show’ on Radio City 91.1 FM, RJs Simran and Varun appear to have taken a leaf out of the much tal ked about Bollywood film ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’ that featured Sanjay Dutt as the one who provides solutions to people’s problem’s through a radio show .

Simran, who has been associated with radio for the past one decade, claims that her ongoing show has struck the right chord with Delhiites.

“There was an employee who wanted to get a bonus from his boss. So we spoke to the boss, who found the whole concept quite funny. He agreed to give his junior one month’s bonus. Then there was this girl from Gurgaon, who was called for an interview about a week ago but hadn’t heard anything since. So we called up the interviewer who appreciated her spirit in discussing her problem with us. Through our show we are trying to bridge the communication gap between people.”

Before hosting the breakfast show each morning, Simran and Varun go through several newspapers to keep themselves abreast of the latest developments around the world and later narrate them to their listeners in an interesting way.

“Today I spoke about noted filmmaker Shyam Benegal being selected for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Then I mentioned about the mysterious disappearance of files linked to Salman Khan’s poaching incident. I wondered aloud whether the files had been eaten up by cows,” quipped Simran.
