Action speaks louder

The traffic police are at their wits’ end wondering how to solve the traffic snarls in Kochi city. For, it is not just the ever-increasing number of vehicles that is worrying them.

The pathetic condition of city roads also is an area of major concern.

Major portions of the arterial roads in the city are in a bad condition, with many potholes being big enough to drown small vehicles. With the authorities concerned taking little initiative, the city police have started repairing roads on their own.

Teams from the city traffic police recently filled the potholes at the Venduruthy bridge. That these holes resurfaced the next day after a good shower is another issue.

But the police are not disheartened. They came together to repair roads near Manappattiparambu on Wednesday.

It remains to be seen whether the patch will stick on this time.
