Mumbai: Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam, cricket legend Kapil Dev, film stars Salman Khan, Shilpa Shetty and industrialist Swati Piramal are among those chosen for this year’s Rajiv Gandhi awards. The awards instituted in 1995 are given for outstanding achievement and contribution to persons from diverse fields including, education, industry, journalism and entertainment, according to award committee convener Charan Singh Sapra. Others selected include Indian Express Editor-in-Chief Shekhar Gupta, Suzlon CMD Tulsi Tanti and Hindustan Sugar Ltd, Jt. Managing Director, Khusagar Bajaj, Mr. Sapra said in a release. The awards will be given at a ceremony held on August 12. — PTI
