JAIPUR: The Union Ministry for Rural Development has approved the release of 1,030 metric tonnes of wheat during 2007-08 to Baran district of Rajasthan through the Food Corporation of India (FCI) depots under the Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY). The release is towards the Plan expenditure and will be used for approved items of works, subject to the conditions laid down in the SGRY guidelines. An official release here said the State Government would ensure timely payment of wages and timely and adequate supply of food grains to labourers engaged under the scheme. If the food grains are not available, wages will be paid in cash. Baran district has also been granted Rs.2.05 crore as the first instalment, equivalent to 60 per cent of the total allocation of Rs.3.43 crore by the Rural Development Ministry, as Central assistance for implementation of the SGRY during the current financial year. The expenditure on the programme’s implementation with regard to cash component would be shared on 75:25 basis between the Central and the State Governments.
