Companies working in the region to extend financial assistance to the Rs. 7-crore project
BHUBANESWAR: The State Government on Thursday decided to construct a barrage across Ib river to meet the drinking water requirement of the towns of Jharsuguda, Brajarajnagar and Belpahar. Three towns to benefit
The three towns ware facing shortage of drinking water in view of the growth in their population in the awake of fast industrialisation in the region. As per official estimates, the drinking water needs of the three towns will increase from the present level of 15 million litres to 83 million litres by 2040. Financial aid
Companies like Mahanadi Coalfields Limited and other industrial houses operating in the region would extend financial assistance for the construction of the barrage in the Ib valley. The decision for having the barrage was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The meeting also decided that another drinking water project would be set up near Talcher industrial township to augment drinking water supply to the town. Project cost
The project will be set up at a cost of Rs. 7 crores. While the State government would provide Rs. 2 crores for the purpose, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited will give the remaining amount, according to an official release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office.
