CBI sends letter to FIA on Dawood Ibrahim

NEW DELHI: India has asked Pakistan to verify recent reports in a section of the media that global terrorist Dawood Ibrahim, prime accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case, has been detained by the authorities in Karachi.
The Central Bureau of Investigation, which represents Interpol in India, wrote a letter to Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), seeking its comments on reports about the detention of Dawood Ibrahim by authorities in Karachi after a gun battle, official sources said here.
The FIA represents Interpol in Pakistan.
Dawood is also wanted in India for a number of crimes, including extortion, murder and circulation of fake currency.
