Action, please: Union Minister Pallamraju at the DCC meeting in Rajahmundry on Thursday.
Tuni: The District Congress Committee (DCC) which met in Velamakothuru village here on Thursday called upon its cadre to intensify campaign on government welfare schemes and rebut the opposition bad propaganda on government. Presiding over the meeting, DCC president Thota Narasimham said Congress leaders should first be aware of the schemes taken up by the State Government and go a head with campaign on them on their own way in rural areas. Union Minister of State for Defence M.M. Pallamraju said that National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme was one of the best welfare schemes that is being supported by the Central Government and it is implemented by the State without any criticism. He said that Congress workers and leaders had failed to encash on this scheme. Pamula Rajeswari, MLA, Nagaram said discipline is most important in the party. Youth Congress district president M. Mohan said campaign committees would be appointed in the district. PCC member Rajah Ashok Babu, MLAs Kudipudi Chittabbai, Varupula Subbarao, Dommeti Venkateswarlu, Tetali Ramareddy and Anisetty Bullebbai participated. Addressing a press conference, the Minister said the government had decided to provide additional facilities to those cadres who are working on highly sensitive boarders and other infected areas. His Ministry had already increased allowances and leaves to military personnel before the recommendations of 12th Finance Commission and there are 3 lakh personnel working in highly sensitive areas out of 13 lakh military strength in the country.
