Pedestrian robbed of cash

BANGALORE: Two men, riding a motorcycle, snatched a bag containing Rs. 5,000 cash, a mobile phone and credit and debit cards from a woman in Vijayanagar police station limits.

The police said that around 7.30 p.m., the two snatched the bag from Yeshaswini, a private company employee, while she was walking in Saraswathinagar. A case has been registered.

Wheat recovered

The Central Crime Branch staff have arrested eight persons who had allegedly stolen wheat meant for supply under public distribution system and recovered 248 bags of wheat estimated at Rs. 2.50 lakh.

The police said the accused had stolen the wheat bags belonging to Food Corporation of India while the bags were being transported by a goods train.

On a tip off, the police raided a warehouse belonging to one of the accused, Nagendra Shetty, in Mahadevapura police station limits, and recovered the wheat bags.
