DAVANGERE: The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan will set up its centre in Davangere, along with a CBSE school. Talking to presspersons here on Thursday, Mathoor Krishnamurthy, Director of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bangalore, said that H. Shivappa, former Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader, had donated three acres of land in Kunduwada village on the outskirts of Davangere for the centre and the school. The school will have classes from standards one to ten. Mr. Krishnamurthy also said that the bhavan was committed to the promotion of educational, literary and cultural activities. Good performance
The bhavan had established schools in different places, and the CBSE school in Mysore was performing exceedingly well, he said. The institution had taken a decision to set up centres for education and cultural activities in all district headquarter cities. Centres had already been set up in Mysore, Kodagu, Mangalore, Bellary, Belgaum and Bagalkot. The bhavan, which was established in 1938, had over 147 centres across the country and overseas. Ms. Sudha Murty, chairperson of the Infosys Foundation, will lay the foundation stone for the centre on August 11. Mr. Shivappa and Deputy Commissioner M.B. Dyaberi will be the chief guests at the function.
