Speed laser guns to be introduced on highways

For the time being two guns will be operational

SANGAREDDY: In an effort to check over speeding on highways in Medak the traffic police have decided to introduce Speed Laser guns from Friday. Initially the guns would be placed under the traffic police station limits of Zaheerabad-Sangareddy on National highway nine and Toopran on National highway seven. Equipped with only two guns the police decided to use the guns on a fortnight wise rotation near accident-prone spots on all the three highways in the district.

The supplier of the laser guns organized training classes for police at the District headquarters and near Malkapur crosses roads. Superintendent of police R. B. Nayak, OSD Manmohan, and sub inspectors of police attended the classes. Speaking to The Hindu the SP said that the guns would help the district police to catch the erring speedsters, as the print out produced by the gun is admissible as evidence in the court.
