Five of family commit suicide

Ghazipur: Five members of a family allegedly committed suicide by setting themselves ablaze at their residence here, police said on Thursday.

The charred bodies of Dwarika Agarwal, a drug shop owner, his wife Nirupama, daughters Priyanka and Preetam and son Bunty were recovered from their house in the Aam Ghat locality on Thursday morning.

The family members allegedly tied themselves with a thin iron wire and sprinkled kerosene oil over them before setting themselves on fire last night.

The reason behind this extreme step could not be ascertained yet, they said, adding senior officials have reached the spot and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
