THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Union Minister for Fertilisers and Chemicals Ram Vilas Paswan has promised to consider measures to address the financial crisis faced by the public sector Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT) at Udyogamandal in Ernakulam district, according to Industries Minister Elamaram Karim. In a press release here on Thursday, Mr. Karim said this package would include restoration of Central subsidies for fertilisers manufactured by FACT. The Centre had withdrawn subsidy on sulphur that goes into the manufacture of Factumphose. Mr. Paswan has promised to restore this and also the subsidy on Ammonium Sulphate, Mr. Karim said. FACT uses naphtha as fuel for manufacturing. Since naphtha is expensive compared to Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), the production cost is high at FACT.
