THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A crucial two-day meeting of the CPI(M) State secretariat began here on Thursday as a prelude to the three-day party State committee session beginning August 11. The meeting is understood to be discussing a host of issues relating to the conduct of the party conferences at various levels beginning next month. Party general secretary Prakash Karat, along with other CPI(M) Polit Bureau members, is attending the State secretariat and State committee meetings. The CPI(M) Central leadership is reported to have a guideline for the conduct of the organisational conferences and elections in view of the bitter faction feud in the State CPI(M). The guideline is likely to be placed before the State committee. The party panels would also discuss some of the recent controversies relating to party functionaries.
