Surrender excess land, say Congress leaders

Special correspondent

HYDERABAD: Congress leaders have asked the Ramoji group of companies to surrender the lands identified by the Ranga Reddy District Land Reforms Tribunal on Wednesday as being in excess of the land ceiling laws.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Ministers N. Raghuveera Reddy and P. Sabita Indra Reddy and Government Chief Whip N. Kiran Kumar Reddy said Ch. Ramoji Rao, chairman of the group, should not treat their demand yet again as an attack on press freedom. They said he must emulate Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who voluntarily surrendered assignment lands held in his family’s possession without his knowledge.
