Chenkala panchayat president Aayisha Cherkalam said when inaugurated, the terminal would be the first bus terminal in the State built and operated by a private investor for a panchayat. At a press conference here on Thursday, she said Union Minister of State for Foreign Affairs E. Ahamed would inaugurate the terminal at a function on August 11 at 3 p.m. Revenue Minister K.P Rajendran would preside over the function. IUML district president Cherkalam Abdulla will inaugurate the shopping complex at the bus stand. The estimated cost of construction of the terminal situated on a 1.5 acre plot was Rs.3 crore, he said.
