JAIPUR: The first all-women engineering college in North India will start functioning in Ajmer town of Rajasthan by this month-end. A total of 240 students are to be admitted to the first year of four branches of engineering degree courses in the college. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had laid the foundation stone for the college on April 30 this year. The construction of the building will be completed in four phases by 2011-12 at a cost of Rs.32 crore, while Rs.7.56 crore will be spent during the current financial year. The Principal of the college, Gopal Modani, said on Thursday that the students selected in the Pre-Engineering Test-2007, organised by the Rajasthan Technical University, Kota, would be admitted to the degree courses in computer engineering, electronics and telecommunication engineering, information technology and bio-technology. Mr. Modani said the students’ strength in the college is likely to increase to 420 by 2011-12. The college proposes to reserve some seats for non-resident Indians and students displaced from Jammu and Kashmir.
