MADURAI: Mystery shrouds the death of an inmate of the Madurai central prison.
According to police sources, V. Pandi alias ‘Puli’ Pandi (41) of Usilampatti, a convict in a theft case, was taken to the Government Rajaji Hospital for treatment of “chest pain” on August 6.
He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Post-mortem revealed that he had suffered internal haemorrhage that could have possibly resulted in his death.
A Revenue Divisional Officer enquiry is on. The Karimedu police have registered a case.
