This Day That Age
The Madras Government have decided to confer State honours on the citizens of the State who have distinguished themselves by eminent service in the fields of art and literature, on the occasion of the celebration of the centenary of freedom struggle. The honours are to be awarded to Mr. P. Sambanda Mudaliar, noted playwright, Dr. M. Varadarajan, Tamil scholar, and Smt. K.B. Sundarambal, famous musician and actress. Announcing this, a Government press note says that the awards will be presented by the Governor of Madras at a special function at Rajaji Hall on August 16.
