MANGALORE: Tippu Sultan (Ullal) and Srinivas ‘A’ (Mangalore) have joined St. Aloysius ‘B’ in the last four stage in the college section of the Independence Cup Football tournament being organised by Dakshina Kannada District Football Association at the Nehru Maidan here on Thursday. Tippu Sultan beat P.A. College of Engineering ‘A’ (Kairangala) 2-0, while Srinivas ‘A’ got the better of Karnataka Polytechnic (Mangalore) 1-0. In the pre-quarterfinals, Srinivas ‘A’ had thrashed Badria ‘B’ 3-1, while KPT progressed to quarterfinals with a 3-0 win over ICFAI College (Mangalore). Wednesday’s results: College section: Quarterfinal: St. Aloysius ‘B’ 4 bt SDM Law College (Mangalore) 3 (via tie-breaker, 0-0 in regulation time). League: St. Aloysius ‘B’ 2 bt Canara College 0; St. Aloysius ‘A’ 4 bt N.R.A.M. Polytechnic (Nitte) 1; Badria (Mangalore) 4 bt S.D.M. B.B.M. 2 (via tie-breaker, 0-0 in regulation time); ICFAI (Mangalore) 6 bt Fat her Muller Medical College (Mangalore) 4 (via tie-breaker, 2-2 in regulation time); NIT-K (Srinivasnagar) 2 bt Ramakrishna (Mangalore) 0.
