The pathways for cycle and walkers along V I P Road in Bhubaneswar are complete on But people are yet to use them since they are not familiar with them.
BHUBANESWAR: A 13-km road stretch from Airport Square to Raghunathpur is fast becoming a symbol of capital’s progress. But, before it is fully built, the Orissa Government has planned for razing major portions of the road. Reason: State Government has suddenly realised that the 4-lane road needed to be converted into 6-lane as traffic on that route had increased. Works Department has already mooted the idea of widening the road many portions of which were still under construction. The proposal has reportedly got green signal from officials. “We will soon be working on the six-laning of the route. About Rs. 50 crore has been sanctioned on the head of Capital Road Fund for the fiscal 2007-2008. It will help us embark on the project,” according to Chief Engineer (Roads) in Works Department Nalinikanta Pradhan.
