When the makers of this music album scouted around for a quintessential Tamil icon, they were attracted by the name Mallika. Common enough, and yet, essentially Tamil.
And when they read Mallika along with love, that’s how Mallika, the album evolved.
Producer Sushanth Raghavan is really excited about what he claims is Tamil’s first DJ mix album. “It is full of live, passions of the youth, love and tender memories,” he gushes about his labour of love.
The music has been directed by Shameer, a keyboard specialist, who has said to have hits in Kannada.
He has managed to throw in a few genres: rap, pop, even dance music.
His task has been made easier with some of the most popular playback singers in filmdom pitching in: Jassie Gift of ‘Lajavathiye’ fame, Srinivas, Karthik, Rita, RJ Suchi, Ranjith, Prasanna, Swetha, and supported by Hema and Sam P. Keethan.
Lyrics are by Na.Muthukumar, Yugabarathi and Sreeram. The entire project has been implemented by WBIG and director, Isaac Thomas, who also plays Mallika’s love interest in the video.
Anjali, a model, who has just entered Tamil filmdom with a couple of movies — Tamil M.A. with actor Jeeva and Ayutham Seivom with director Sundar C. — stars as Mallika.
The album will be released soon, says Mr. Raghavan.
