Keeping everyone guessing Film Review

Nadia Kollapetta Rathri

Director K. Madhu scores on one count – you will not guess the culprits in this murder mystery till the last frame, till he chooses to let you know.

The story unfurls with the murder of three young girls, who were travelling separately, in a Chennai-Mangalapuram train. Thulasi (Shuja Karthik), an accomplished dancer, is the first to be killed. At first, it looks like a suicide, but it turns out to be a well-planned manslaughter. Next in the list is Shreya (Prachaya). This is followed by the horrendous killing of Nadia (Kavya Madhavan). All three cases are probed into – and solved -- by a team headed by Sharaffuddin Taramasi (Suresh Gopi), a Railway Protection Force senior officer.

Cast excels

Kavya Madhavan, who has shed quite a few kilos, has given a powerful performance. Suresh Gopi, minus his trademark dialogue delivery, portrays a truthful picture of a dedicated police officer. In the role of TTE, Venjaramood Siraj generates high class humour. Anoop Chandran, as a mischievous caretaker of AC first class, gives an exhibition of fine-tuned acting. Siddhique plays a self-styled caretaker of Nadia. Rajan P. Dev, for once in a positive role, performs admirably. Other actors -- Madhupal, Bindu Panicker, Shammi Thilakan and Suber -- too have done ample justice to their roles.

A.K. Sajan’s script, dialogue and screenplay are flawless and riveting. Fine editing by P.C. Mohan is a prime cause for sustained curiosity all through the film. Background music by Rajamani complements the suspense.

K. Madhu, after his stint in the four ‘CBI Diary’ series, has challenged the viewers to untangle a rather complicated web of deception, design and double crossing.
