T. Muralidharan’s feat of a non-stop drama performance in September last year has earned his team at Loyola College the Guinness recognition. His team of 12 students performed 13 stories from the Bible for 72 hours to break the previous record.
Now, Muralidharan aims for a similar recognition by performing solo. The one-man show is being supported by the college, which has allowed him the use of a classroom to hone his skills.
Later this month, Muralidharan will stage a solo performance for 60 hours in the college where he will enact scenes from films scripted by M. Karunanidhi in which veteran actor ‘Sivaji’ Ganesan has acted. “This is a trial for a place in the Guinness and the Limca Book of Records,” he says. “I have remixed 1,500 songs and 30 movie scripts for this show.”
Muralidharan’s father is an agricultural coolie in Arakkonam. This third year B.A. Tamil Literature student also features in a popular morning show in Chutti TV channel.
Muralidharan studied at the Government Higher Secondary School in Arakkonam. “I used to participate in fancy dress contests from childhood,” he says. He won the first prize continuously for 11 years at the annual event held at Griblespet in Arakkonam. When he entered college, he decided to hone his talent and the college supported his venture. “I practise by watching myself on the notice board glass doors,” says this skilled artist.
Loyola College has also funded his purchase of 300 film CDs.
