Heroin seized from train

BANGALORE: A team from Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Chennai, on Thursday seized two kilograms of heroin from the Udyan Express at the Bangalore City Railway Station.

According to Superintendent of Police (Railways), the team seized the narcotic substances from an AC coach after the train here from Mumbai. The carrier managed to escape, he said.

The seized substances is valued at Rs. 2 crore in the international market, he added.

According to police sources, the heroin was meant for transportation to Sri Lanka.

The consignment had originated from Madhya Pradesh. NCB officials are investigating the matter, the sources said.
