Engineering student’s death triggers protest

The death of an engineering student, Deepak, in a road accident at Clock Tower in Secunderabad on Thursday triggered protest with his relatives staging a demonstration on the main road demanding action against the bus driver. Deepak and his friend were going towards Clock Tower on a motorcycle when an RTC bus hit them. He died on the spot while his friend escaped with minor injuries.

2 held for possessing explosives

Two persons were nabbed by the Task Force police on Thursday for allegedly possessing power gel explosives and electrical detonators. The police also recovered 2,000 detonators and 1,600 power gels from the possession of Malla Reddy (35) of Vanasthalipuram and Krishna Reddy (36) of Hayathnagar.

The explosive material was seized from a hut at Chaitanyapuri Colony.

Fake passports

Three persons were taken into custody at the Begumpet airport on Thursday night for going abroad with fake passports. They were identified as E. Babu (30), K. Rajender (25) and G. Venkanna Babu (21) all natives of East Godavari district.

Man stabbed to death

A 30-year-old man, Balveer Singh, was stabbed to death by his neighbour at Rajendranagar on Thursday. Balveer picked up an altercation with his neighbour, Jarnal Singh, over a trivial issue. In a fit of rage, Jarnal reportedly attacked him with a knife resulting in grievous injuries. Balveer Singh died while being shifted to Osmania General Hospital.

Commits suicide

A toddy compound owner, J. Laxman Goud (40), committed suicide by consuming poison at his residence at Neredmet on Thursday.

He took the drastic step after his wife Sunitha’s family members staged a dharna in front of his house on Wednesday accusing him of killing Sunitha for more dowry. She died under suspicious circumstances six months ago.
