VIRUDHUNAGAR: Hundreds of All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam cadres on Thursday staged a demonstration at Aruppukottai in Virudhunagar district, demanding reopening of the railway reservation office.
The railway station and the reservation office were closed to carry out Virudhunagar-Manamadurai gauge conversion in April.
However, there was no significant progress in the works.
The protesters, led by party organising secretary M. Chinnasamy, wanted the immediate opening of the reservation office as the passengers had to go to Virudhunagar for booking tickets.
Rajapalayam MLA M. Chandra, party district secretary K.K. Sivasamy, the former district secretary, R. Vinayakamoorthy, and district secretary of MGR youth wing K.T. Rajendra Balaji were among those who took part.
Earlier, the partymen took out a procession from the new bus stand to South Car Street.
