All party meet to deliberate on titanium dioxide project urged
Chennai: Leaders of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), led by state secretary N. Varadarajan, called upon Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Wednesday and urged him to convene an all party meet to deliberate on the controversy surrounding the proposed setting up of the titanium dioxide factory at Sattankulam in Tirunelveli district.
The delegation also appealed to the Chief Minister to speed up the distribution of free house pattas to 25 lakh poor families and ensure that the maintenance of the Chennai Corporation community halls was not privatised.
The services of contract employees with the TNEB should be regularised and the State Government should impress upon the Centre to guarantee that the Nilgiris tea farmers were given purchase prices as recommended by the court.
The changes made to the EMU schedule in suburban Chennai should be revoked and additional services made available, the delegation urged Mr. Karunanidhi.
