HYDERABAD: Former World champion and Olympic gold medallist Taufik Hidayat has confirmed his participation in the Indian Open Grand Prix badminton championship to be held in Hyderabad from September 4 to 9, according to Pullela Gopi Chand, former All England champion and now National coach.
Gopi told The Hindu that the Indonesian shuttler had sent his entry for the $1,50,000 biggest-ever badminton championship in India.
With Hidayat’s confirmation, the Indian Open is assured of the participation of five of the world top 10 players, said Gopi. — Principal Correspondent
