The Government of India propose to set up an autonomous central authority to execute the Dandakaranya project for the resettlement of displaced persons from East Pakistan. The project aims at developing an area on the borders of Andhra, Orissa and Madhya Pradesh, consisting of a large contiguous tract of about 80,000 square miles.
