Protest against delay in completion of road works
EE promises execution of works in a fortnight

VIZIANAGARAM: The town Congress committee on Friday organised a dharna at the ice factory on the Ring Road in protest against delay in completion of the road works by the R & B Department. Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy, MLA, Municipal Vice-Chairman Avanapu Suri Babu, TCC president Pilla Vijaya Kumar, Councillors and party cadres participated in the dharna.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Swamy said that the government though had been releasing grants for various developmental works officials concerned were not executing the sanctioned works in time.

The government had released Rs.1.25 crores last year under cyclone relief grant for carrying out repairs to the Ring Road. But the contractor abandoned the work after completing the stretch between Kothapeta water tank and Rajiv Nagar Colony for unknown reasons.

As a result driving on the road became risky, he said. Executive Engineer ( R & B) Jayasri who was submitted a memorandum by the leaders assured them that the contractor would be blacklisted and the works executed in a fortnight.
