Manimeghalai Awards for best performing self-help groups

Krishnagiri: The district administration has invited applications from eligible self-help groups and Panchayat Level Federation (PLF) in the district for the Manimeghalai Awards. In a statement issued here on Friday, Collector Santhosh Babu said awards would be given to the Best SHGs and PLFs based on their performance.
A district-level committee headed by the Collector would select the best SHGs and PLFs. Applications were available at the office of Mahalir Thittam, Krishnagiri. He said that the eligible SHGs should have completed four years as on July 1, 2007.
They should have completed the grading process to get economic assistance. The SHGs should have elected their office-bearers on a rotational basis for a minimum of three times and repaid their loans to banks without any dues. Preference would be given for activity-based groups.
Similarly, Panchayat Level Federations should be functioning and completed two years as on July 1, 2007.
The PLF concerned should have all eligible SHGs in their panchayat area as their group members. The PLFs should have conducted a minimum of 20 meetings over a period of two years.
They should assist their SHGs to get loans to start small enterprises. Eligible SHGs and PLFs in the district should submit the application forms to the Project Officer, Mahalir Thittam, Krishnagiri. More details can be obtained from the Mahalir Thittam office in Krishnagiri, the release added.
