Case against college students

KANCHEEPURAM: Thazhambur police have registered a case against a group of students of an arts college in Thazhambur for causing damage to college properties and the principal’s vehicle.

According to police, three students of the college — Joshwa, Kishorejoe and Pandian — ill-treated a professor who accompanied them in the college bus on August 7. Based on the complaint from the professor, the college principal initiated disciplinary action against the students and suspended them.

Aggrieved by the principal’s decision, a group of students boycotted the classes on August 9 and staged a demonstration in front of the institution. Some of them pelted stones on the principal’s car.

Subsequently, the principal lodged a complaint with Thazhambur police. — Staff Reporter
