Contraband seized

VILLUPURAM: The police impounded two vehicles and seized rectified spirit and Indian Made Foreign Liquor worth Rs 2 lakh being illegally transported at different places on Friday.

At Tindivanam, the police intercepted a vehicle carrying 24 cans of rectified spirit (35-litre capacity each). The occupants of the car slowed down the vehicle near a culvert, jumped out of it and escaped.

In another incident at Valavanur, the police seized 640 IMFL full bottles, being transported from Puducherry to Perambalur, and arrested the driver A.Ezhilselvam (54) of Adambakkam, Chennai. — Special Correspondent
