PERUNDURAI: The seventh Open House Exhibition on science and engineering got under way at the Kongu Engineering College here on Friday morning.
The three-day exhibition has students from the College and various schools showcasing workable models, conceptual designs explaining the various features of science and latest advancements in science and technology.
Students from various disciplines, including the department of management studies, have put up 500 models in their disciplines.
The College students’ contribution will be in addition to those from school students. College authorities say school students have put up 200 stalls.
The College students’ exhibits are high on technology but a few are repetitive of last year. This year too the students have come up with exhibits like operating domestic appliances using mobile phone, etc.
Then there are a few new ones like smart car parking system, automatic wall painting, vegetable sorting machine based on colour, etc.
If the exhibits are of the College students are interesting, no less is that of school students. Though they have not invested heavily in models like their College counterparts, have come with well thought out exhibits.
The use of skins of beetroot, pomegranate and lime in colouring food comes as a surprise package from the students of Kongu National Matriculation School, Erode.
As for the explaining the projects go, there is nothing to beat the boys of Mahajan High School, Erode. The 700-exhibit strong three-day fair is a not-to-miss event in Erode.
