Training programme for artists launched

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Jana Chaitanya Kala Mandali has been conducting training programmes for the artists to promote the Indian art forms, said Bharatiya Janata Party’s National executive member and former MLA K. Haribabu here on Friday.

He inaugurated the third conference of the Kala Mandali during in which 200 artists will undergo training in different art forms for three days. Many of Indian arts forms were on the brink of extinction and they would prosper if given help, Dr. Haribabu felt.

Mr. Haribabu said the idea was to train amateur artistes and enable them reflect people’s problems through various art forms. Besides, promotion of national integration and amity through skits and play-lets and folk forms like ‘kolatam’ and ‘golla suddulu’ was also an objective. The first and second conferences were held in Rajahmundry and Hyderabad respectively. Writer Kasi Viswanadham and actor ‘Kallu Chidambaram’ also spoke. Former Mayor D.V. Subba Rao, Mahila Morcha president T. Vijayalakshmi, senior BJP leader P.V. Chalapathi Rao and others participated.
