AITUC activists stage protest

TAMBARAM: Members of the All India Trade Union Congress staged a protest in Pallavaram on Friday evening, urging the State Government and the St. Thomas Mount cum Pallavaram Cantonment Board to fill up vacant posts in the Board.

The members said that apart from conversancy workers, vacancies to the posts of nurses, pharmacists, engineers have not been filled up for a long time, resulting in poor service to residents of this local body.

Teacher posts

The posts of 23 teachers in two schools of the Board were also vacant for a long time.

As a result, the pass percentage of government schools in Cantonment Board was poor, compared to other government and municipal schools nearby, they said.
