We want: Members of All India Lawyers’ Association staging a demonstration at the court complex in Tirupur on Friday pressing their demands including provision of stipend for young lawyers from the date of enrolment.
TIRUPUR: More than 50 lawyers owing allegiance to the All India Lawyers’ Union (AILU) on Friday staged a demonstration at the court complex here demanding stipend for young lawyers during their initial years of practice.
Presiding over the agitation, Tirupur chapter of AILU president P. Mohan said that Karnataka was giving stipend to the young lawyers.
The young lawyers had been facing a lot of hardships during their initial years of practice.
Secretary A. Manavalan and treasurer S. Ponram explained their demands. The AILU urged the Government to set up National Judicial Commission to ensure transparency in the appointment of judges.
They wanted that the welfare fund should be increased from Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh.
