KARUR: Gram sabha meetings will be conducted in all the 158 panchayats in the district on the occasion of Independence Day, according to Collector T.N. Venkatesh.
In a press release issued here on Friday, Mr. Venkatesh has noted that the meetings would take stock of the development works being undertaken in the panchayat, streetlight maintenance and power bill restructuring, telephone connectivity, ‘Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam,’ National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, conserving water bodies, rural electrification, solid waste management, child labour eradication, HIV/AIDS prevention and other relevant issues would be discussed in the meetings, the press release added.
