Chitradurga: The Chitradurga police have rescued a six-year-old boy who was kidnapped from Bangalore. The police gave the boy’s name as Neev Jain.

According to the police, Raja Arjun, 24, who hails from Hubli, was staying in Bangalore. On Friday morning, he lured the boy by offering him chocolates and took him to Tumkur in a bus. There, he got Neev to give him his father’s cellphone number, called the father and demanded a ransom of Rs. 10 lakh.

Neev’s father lodged a complaint, and the Tumkur police were alerted. Raju then took the boy to Chitradurga from where he again made calls for ransom.

By that time Neev’s parents had reached Tumkur. The Tumkur police traced the calls and informed their counterparts in Chitradurga, who identified the three telephone booths from which the calls were made. Raju was arrested by the police around 8 p.m. Neev was handed over to his parents and a case was registered against Raju.

Inspector G.K. Kavalappa of the Chitradurga Rural police station, where case has been registered, said that Raja was not a professional kidnapper. During interrogation, it was ascertained that a few cases had been booked against him in Hubli.
