KOZHIKODE: The Federation of Indian Rationalists’ Association has said that secular democrats ought to resist any move to curtail the freedom of expression as has been witnessed in the attack on Taslima Nasrin, Bangladesh writer, at the Hyderabad Press Club on Thursday. In a statement here on Friday, U. Kamalanathan, secretary of the association, while condemning the attack said freedom of expression is a fundamental right in the country not only for those who profess fundamentalism but for all citizens including progressive writers. The Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad condemned the attack on the writer. It was deplorable that the three persons who led the attack were people’s representatives.
