Manmohan’s statement disputed

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The All-India Forward Bloc on Saturday disputed the statement of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that the Left parties had a “flawed” understanding of the Indo-U.S. nuclear deal.

Various facets

Reacting to the statement that appeared in a newspaper interview, the Forward Bloc Secretary G. Devarajan said the Left parties had been discussing and analysing various facets of the nuclear deal since the time Prime Minister signed it in July 2005.

He said: “We have expressed our concerns even in Parliament and we feel the 123-agreement would be subservient to the Henry Hyde Act. We have had several round of meetings with technical experts, so it is wrong to say that our understanding is flawed,” Mr. Devarajan told The Hindu.
