KANCHEEPURAM: Myles Patrick (54) was arrested by the Mamallapuram police on Friday on charges of possessing obscene pictures and inducing Indian ‘friends’ to perform unnatural sexual acts with him.
According to police, one Muthu (24) of Mamallapuram filed a complaint of sexual abuse against Patrick who was staying in a lodge at Othavadai Street. Subsequently a case was registered and obscene photographs, a camera, a memory card, and compact discs were seized from Patrick’s room.
The accused, holding a valid Canadian passport and tourist visa, arrived at Mamallapuram on July 23 this year.
A case under Sec. 377 (indulging in unnatural sexual acts) and 292 (possessing obscene photographs or other such materials) was booked against him. He was remanded to judicial custody, police said.
Held for abetment
On Sunday, the police arrested Srinivasan (33) belonging to a fishing hamlet in Mamallapuram.
He was said to have helped Patrick by introducing him to boys and youths from fishing hamlets. He has been charged under Section 109 of the Indian Penal Code for abetting the crime.
Senior officials of the Kancheepuram district police interacted with leaders and representatives from the fishing hamlets to ensure that boys and youth were not lured.
Asking them to be more vigilant, policemen appealed to the leaders to inform them immediately in case they suspected strangers and middle men luring young people to meet foreigners.
