Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Governor T. V. Rajeswar has removed the Vice-Chancellors of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar University and Deen Dayal Upadhyay University following charges of “serious irregularities” against them. Prof Bhumitra Deo, former V-C of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University in Bareilly, has been asked to discharge the duties of Prof A. S. Kukla, removed as V-C of Ambedkar University in Agra until further orders, official sources said here on Sunday. Replaced
They said Prof Arun Kumar had been removed as V-C of Deen Dayal Upadhyay University in Gorakhpur and replaced by A. K. Mittal, a senior professor. There were complaints of financial, administrative and academic irregularities against Kumar while Kukla had been asked “to refrain from performing the V-C’s duties” after the Agra police chief sought prosecution sanction against him on investigating a complaint that he allegedly instigated an employee to commit suicide, they said. Sanction given
The Governor, who is also Chancellor of the universities, has accorded sanction to the Agra SSP. Kumar is accused of irregularities in admissions to the B. Ed course in colleges affiliated to DDU University and the Allahabad High Court has passed strictures while hearing a petition against him, the sources added. -- PTI
